It depends on what carbs. It it´s healthy carbs like whole wheat and some fruits and greens it will make you burn more calories when you eat them. It´s not excellent to eat a lot of unhealthy fats. I agree that you need protein in all of your meals to keep your muscles.

Metabolism produces heat, if you add extra heat, your body will have to produce sweat to cool of. Sweating will basically get you dehydrated. If your body is unable to cool down with sweat, then it will lower its metabolic rate. Cold tempetature WILL rise it.
